The tactile experience of reading a book — the turning of the pages, the smell of paper (especially old paper) — is an essential part of the reading experience for me. I love books as objects, almost as much as I love their content. That affinity for the sensory elements of reading is part of what intrigued me about Tim Youd’s 100 Novels Project.

I met and interviewed Tim while he was in New Orleans performing a five-novel installment in his project.
